The pretense of knowledge masquerading under the guise of arrogance. Think Prima Donna but entirely devoid of talent. Highly unapproachable and generally hostile. Literature class was volatile as can be. Poor punctuality and organisation to boot, was late to a class/slept through classes on multiple occasions. Blamed class for not 'waking him up'. Need I say more?
I had Marotous for literature 3/4 (after being taught by the excellent Mr Bryant last year)
Marotous does nothing in class but praise those who are good at the subject already, and insult those who are not.
He got angry at someone who was talking one day, claiming how 'unfair' it was, and then ironically refused to teach for the rest of the week.
Hello 30, goodbye future :(
Without a doubt, Marotous is a VERY intelligent person; his knowledge of the English language is quite extraordinary. However, in my experience, after having him for a few consecutive years, he is not a good teacher. He is VERY bias and definitely has favourites. Oftentimes he relies too heavily of booklets he has prepared years ago instead of engaging directly with the current class that he is teaching. Although I respect him as a teacher, he did not help me reach my full potential.
As someone who had Mr Marotous as a teacher over both years in VCE I noticed marked improvement in 2015 in relation to his resources and teaching compared to 2014. There's a lot of negativity from the past which he has now genuinely tried to change. All I'm saying is you've gotta give him a chance. Just afford him the basic respect you would any teacher to pay attention in class and do homework; his teaching style is very different, but if you try you really can get a lot out of his classes.
My teacher. My mentor. My master. Marotous is love, Marotous is life. 50 plz - Will

MAROTUS IS MY BEST M8. RIP - THARINDA RAMANAYAKA
If you are reading this review then I am so sorry. Chances are you have Mr Marotous as either an English or Literature teacher. If you are currently doing 3/4 Literature, may god have mercy on your soul. If, on the other hand you're doing 3/4 English, never will you be so glad as to have cross-marking between teachers.
If you are lucky enough to be reading this in Year 11, run.
I assure you there is life after Marotous, however bleak it may be.
A mixed bag, but awesome resources. He is late quite a bit, and seems strict because he yells and has high standards. But, he's only joking most of the time and is actually quite nice letting you out of class really early. Won't get you into serious trouble or anything. Overall, good guy, good teacher, but hard to see goodness somtimes!
Very hard to find him. Hardly ever in his staff room. Makes me wonder what he actually does when he's not in.
I really good teacher, those complainers were probably the ones who didn't contribute in class, didn't work hard, or didn't take what he said with a grain of salt
He thinks the world of himself. His personality/mood is immensely volatile. He's unapproachable and it's common for his students to feel intimidated when asking for help. My english classes were hell.
Made English very easy. He was always helpful and his feedback was immensely thorough.
