SHe might be terrifying, but alien giraffe in a washing machine. Case closed.
Pretty cool! She's fun but also scary but that's good ahaha. She actually makes chorale fun with all her stories and "childish" games :D
miss c is so amazing - respect maaan. perth mod's gonna lose a large portion of the amazing music program when she decides to leave.
Miss Christmass is the best teacher in the world. However, she seems to have this effect where she is either liked or disliked by everyone. No one thinks Miss Christmass is alright. She has a very great passion for music and it annoys me to see so many people who dislike her so much. Honestly, the best...
Miss Christmass is honestly one of the best teachers i've ever had. She's firm but she's really knowledgeable and she makes learning really great. Perth Mod is so lucky to have her because she's so good.
Miss C is honestly one of my favourite teachers at the school. Without her the music program would be dead and she is incredible at teaching and conducting. Thanks Miss C!
Very good music teacher she knows her stuff
Miss Christmass may just be the best teacher I have ever had. Her knowledge and experience is unrivaled and it shows in her work. Perth Modern is so lucky to have such an incredible teacher. I agree that she has favourites and can be biased and patronising but you don't earn the love and respect that she has from us students by being a bad teacher. I'm so glad she came back this year. Perth Modern School's music program would never survive without her.
Miss Christmass is absolutely amazing. She is so knowledgeable and has such an obvious passion for music and a talent for teaching. She could be considered biased, but generally only by those who really do not care. Those who have a talent for music, or don't but have obvious passion for it will be held in high favour. She may make you sing in front of the class, but it is not to embarrass the student, instead to help them improve. She is an incredible choral director. Every lesson is enjoyable.
I guess Miss Christmass IS biased...i mean, she was never ever strict about homework with me...but she is very very passionate about harnessing every single childs potential abilities, and if she makes you sing infront of the class (which by the way she does to every single student she has), so be it. Best teacher I've ever had.
she is very strict she does know her stuff but she is too shouty and clearly has favourties that she unfairly favours
if you know her then you know how amazing she is and why i dont need to say anything
she is a talented and amazing musician and teacher in every way, she treats her beloved students like her own. but sadly she is VERY biased in EVERY occasion. she can be very mean if she doesnt like u
An absolutely outstanding teacher and an amazing person.
Miss Christmass is really strict about concentratin and doing homework, but her classes are really interesting and you can have fun. I think you either love her or you hate her, but she is awesome and really nice as long as you try hard
goddess to those gifted in music. treats the rest of us, though, with disdain.
I had Celia many years ago and she still remians one of the very best teachers i have ever had. Her personal life is not the business of anyone else. Her teaching and the results she achieves is what is important. So what if you played simon says. Lighten Up!
Miss C is amazing, she is definately the best music teacher at our school. She treats us nothing like little kids, in fact she's on of the few teacher that you can have a proper conversation with. As for playing simon says, it's one of the funnest things we do in choral and choir and everyone loves it!
She has some personal problems that unfortunately come through in the way she teaches. She also has the habit of treating the children like they are little kids, with games such as simon says.
possibly the most amazing woman i have ever met. She has helped me (and forced me to) understand concepts i never thought i would, and made me look forward to music every week. Never thought i would be volunteering for extra choir, but here i am.Going to miss her so much when i graduate. Alien giraffe!!
Whoever wrote the last post is the socially insensitive one. Miss C is one of the best people i've ever met.
Miss Christmas is the best music teacher ever. I have got her at the moment and she has taught me soooooooooooo much!
I have Miss C at the moment... she's the best music teacher at the school ever. Except she makes you sing by yourself, and is strict about homework. But still, alian giraffe eating pizza hut in a heavy-duty-cycle :D
Miss C is the most awesomest teachers ever....and she has a border-collie^^
Miss C is an awesome teacher! Always professional, kind, helpful and manages huge class groups...like wow. PMS is so lucky to have her. Her standards are high-you don't want to mess with her. Not surprised she's what? no 1 on this website? Her professional attitude, preparation and passion are a real inspiration when you've known her for all of high school. You're the best-don't let anyone..put you down!
By FAR the best and most experienced music teacher. She got mistaken by some spooked out security guards for the ghost the haunts west building haha
Hey everyone out there, Miss C is BRILLIANT! You'd be one lucky guy/girl to have her as a teacher, I would know!
oh she's great, but sometimes um, kinda embarrasing. today she started a long conversation with a guy in my class about how his voice is breaking later than ours, etc etc. he was so embarrased ):
band is fun fun with miss C, her tight undies and tofu! tofu! TOFU! also loves to shout at people ... hehehe
she is such a great aliengiraffeinawashingmachineeatingachickenpizzaatmcdonaldsonHEAVYDUTYCYCLEtouchingherfriendsbumandgivingthemanewhairdo!!!!!! i'll never look at simon says the same way again.
might seem a bit scary at first, but she's a really nice teacher, she can actually can make choir fun!
Miss C is great. very strict, but great once you get to know her. except for the fact that she played ABBA in class! >.<
Bad in choir and band to everyone but shes ok on her own
YAY Miss Christmas WE LOVE YOU!!! I guess some people dont ike your teaching methods, because you are thorough, but you are really really a great music teacher! Dont let anybody make you feel bad !
When you have to deal with as many students as miss christmass does every week, some nice, some not, some tired, stressed, bullied, big headed or unwell, you can't be expected to be happy all the time
She is a fantastic woman, jeeze... she gets crabby easily. but other than that she knows what she is doing, ans she is a perfect TEACHER ,She does what she is paid for and in the best way.
when some of the people on here grow up they will realise that miss christmass is a fantastic teacher and good natured person (mostly). Only the young minded people would say she is mean.
Did anyone notice she is ranked as No 1 teacher by this website? A bit weird.
Bit weird at times, but is 'passionate' and doesnt stop working on something.
Miss C Is the best teacher i've ever know. She's passionate and inspiring and although times it can be challenging and hard work, it pays off. great memories, you'll keep forever. Keep Rockin Miss C!!
Miss C is generally a fair, brilliant teacher but what she has done with the Chamber Choirs is an absolute disgrace. Sorry to the lucky year 8's and 9's that made it in but thats all it was - luck. While the dedicated, never-going-to-get-another-chance year 12's missed out. Miss C, you've let us down.
Do u no wat i think is hilarious??? Miss C is such a dominanting teacher that even MRS CARTA admitted that she is scared of her. FANTASTIC :D Miss C is da bomb. She is so cute n sweet, but damn rite talented at what she does. She is a verrry special gal. xxx
Miss Christmass is one of the best teachers there is!!! (Also THE BEST conductor) She is always so helpfull and isn't afraid to throw in a joke or two into her music classes. She is a little bit scary but that is part of what makes her a good teacher. WE ALL LOVE YOU MISS CHRISTMASS!!!!!!!!
Celia is a great teacher, slightly fantical, and damn scary... but thats what makes her the best! :)
Celia is a fantastic teacher and an AMAZING choral conductor. There is no doubt in my mind that she knows her stuff and is a caring and empathetic person. However with that said i have concern for the way that she overworks herself, affecting her moods causing some conflict with students.
My favourite teacher by far. She is really nice, but very daunting by reputation (and how she acts in class). Good fun, a good sense of humour and very nice. Very experienced and has a fantastic work ethic. Not being paid for most of her out of school hours work is great. Well done Miss C :-)
Food for thought. Why is it that when a child in WA wants to do music, they/ their parents automatically think PERTH MOD? The answer is because of its reputation; and what is Mod's reputation based upon? All of those Band/ Orchestra performances, yes; results, NO - just a myth. In all this time of music at Mod, the school has no received a SINGLE distinction for Music! The reason? An over-emphasis on performance; ESPECIALLY chorale, that results in a decline in actual syllabus music material!
Celia asked how else she could trust the chorale to learn their music, besides “scare-testing.” What else can she implement to ensure concentration and dedication? She said she was all-ears for any alternate suggestions. Well, for one, to ensure optimum dedication one would obviously make chorale optional. However since Celia refuses to do this, perhaps to her own peril, she could: Give consensus to students in regards to repertoire, as, well, quite frankly some of the pieces are absolutely appalling (if we
Great teacher. Behind all the sternness lies a caring, helpful teacher. Oh by the way, are all you guys commenting on here from Perth Modern?
Celia has amazing abilities; from a quality class music education style to handling a complex environment of hundreds of music students during chorale. However at times she can be pure evil, often lashing out viciously, and at random intervals. She can shatter the psyche of even a full-grown bass, and make sopranos cry with her stares and intimidation tactics. Aside from making parents and students infuriated with her demands, it is interesting to note 'Zoltan Kodaly' is an anagram of 'Talk Lazy Do No.'
SOOO COOOL:D (welll...at rossmoyne's full school choir she is)...my favourite term of choir in my whole school life!! makes it all fun:)....unusual teachign methods. btu they work:). at rossy shs we all love u and mister coy:D
She is brilliant and incredibly dedicated to both music and teaching.
The compulsory Saturday rehearsal before the Grand Music Concert was not possible for one Year 9 girl who was actually leaving the country- back for the Concert, but not the rehearsal. Celia, of course, booted her out of the concert altogether in a merciless display of coldness, resulting in the said girl bursting in to tears to Miss Hanson.
Why should she expect students to turn up to her rehearsals if she misses so many, consistently, herself; and at the last minute without any explanation whatsoever?
As many people before have said Miss C is an amazing teacher, creative, dynamic and talented. However she plays favourites, has an extremely annoying fan club and often brings her personal life into the class room, which is both time consuming and unnecessary. Yet at the end of the day Chorale and the chamber ensembles sound and look amazing so it is worth putting up with her eccentricites and the little push-overs who follow her around
She is the absolute coolest teacher ever. Even though she does get a bit moody at times. I hope every muso student at Perth Mod does their best in music- especially for Miss C. It's going to be really sad for everyone when the Music program get phased out by nerds. Oh well. I think we should do our best while we have a chance.
Referred to the mob of Academically Selective, Gifted and Talented Year 8s as "rambunctious" and given what I have seen and heard from the sound produced by the rabble, I have to agree 100%.
If you know 1/10th of what Celia knows, you're FANTASTIC. She has a brilliant musical mind and is great teacher, however a lot of aspects in her classes (which extend to chorale) are very intimidating
Great musician but, when it boils down to it, only nice when it suits her. Sometimes hippocriitical. She is a mite like her father, over-bearing and devilishly strict.
she is extremely intimidating and at times is downright rude. I find that this kind of behaviour is unhelpful for students as healthy communication is essential for learning
Too moody for my liking. Also can get big-headed; and all just because she got a Hungarian scholarship to learn Doh Reh Me Fah Soh at the Kodaly institute or whatever. Pff BIG DEAL
wow she is certainly a controlling teacher at times. but none-the-less great at her job
Can be a nice person, but generally her persona is far from nice- more along the lines of dictatorial and tyrannical. Knows her stuff, but needs to curb her... bullying tendencies.
Is a very talented woman who clearly has musical caliber. If you know 1/10th of what Celia knows, you are VERY good. There is questioning her knowledge, but rather her student relations- namely the bullying and intimidation
I'll agree that Miss C could sometimes be hard to deal with - but it's so easy to see that she has a genuine love of music and got upset when people did not achieve their potential (and she did yell at me a few times!!)
Miss C knows lots about music. There is no doubting this. She needs to realize that she is very mood swingy- one minute she is cheerful and funny, the next she is a spiteful, vicious, malicious monster.
Would also make a great personal trainer, for all the same reasons. Pushes you to achieve your best, even when you think it's 'good enough'.
As a classroom teacher she's great, and it would be dishonest to say that she's not a great teacher in general. Uses humiliation as a behaviour controller, and that's unnecessary - would be a better teacher without it.
She give 100% all the time, and expects students to do the same. The results are great, but i wonder - what would it be like if every teacher was so demanding? Would students crack under the unrelenting p[ressure, or would they adapt to such demands 8 periods a day, and would that lead to greater maturity?
Someone who divides us into opposite poles of opinion. There are so many categories not here, like actual talent, ability and most of all results. I think the above average numbers reflect something.
a very old fashioned teacher about as 'non-OBE' as they come if you prefer that style, she's probably too tough for you sometimes she is too tough on me but i still can see she is a great teacher
Wow! - over a hundred ratings! (Soon there will be more ratings than there are music students in the school). Even without (cough, cough) and his many anonymous posts, THAT'S AMAZING!
Unbelievably clear, totally helpful - not all that easy, I'd admit. Totally agree with one of the comments below on that score, though - easiness is not a good thing in teacher.
I would be prepaed to donate a kidney just to miss a term of chorale. Ms c might be interested, hmmmmmmmmmm
A bit too evil for my liking, but can be nice when things go her way
I don't see why so many people think she is horrible because she individually tests students. they shouldn't find it threatening if they've actually been responsible and practised.
I once heard a group of year eights discussing the most exciting thing that had happened on their holiday. One said it was Miss C "actually speaking" to them.
She suggested that we find a better solution rather than cruelly testing individuals. TRUST TRUST TRUST- TRUSTTTT that specialist music students actually take their responsibilities seriously!
An awesome knowledge base, a reasonable educator and a tyrannical persona, but she clearly is doing it for the students, and her love of Mod. Favours Cantori so much it's not funny. Bullies in chorale
She needs to understand that hunting out people on the nights of concerts and publicly naming, shaming, and humiliating them in front of their peers, is a shameful and disgraceful act of intimidation.
inspirational, gives so many kids with the will to perform their best the chance to do so. what she's doing waving her arms in front of us when she could be amongst the international best is beyond me
An exceptional teacher. Go Miss C! - rise above the low expectations of those who want a 'dumbed-down' music course.
Miss Christmass is a lovely person and one of the best teachers I have ever met. She can be a bit strict but she also gives praise (and lollies :D). AND SHE'S DEFINITELY NOT A BULLY! You rock Miss C!!
cntd on her teaching ability. music is a discipline. by nature its demanding & comes automatically with pressure. celia is real! her priority is learning. a credit to the international music scene.
Ms C is a good classroom teacher, but her best quality is the way she conducts chamber choirs and chorale. If there is a problem (even if it may not SEEM like a big problem) she will fix it before it
