Great teacher although impossible to read his handwriting
Absolutely marvellous. When you see "Burton" on your timetable, you know you're in for a fantastic year!
Mr. Burton was a teacher that made me despise the subject, he has no sense of direction and is always 10minutes late to our class. He hardly ever listened to what I had to say and this made it very difficult to learn everything.
This man is simply brilliant. He knows the texts inside out, and is articulate and excellent at providing constructive feedback.
Great teacher, he has great knowledge of the text, even though he has a very firm 'pat on the back'. The comments that he writes on your previous work can be very helpful when you can read them, which is very rare. Still far superior to any others
haha....just came across this site...I was class of 04 and we used to call him Bourbon....good at being a good bloke but not at being a teacher
Mr Burton is quite a good teacher, although sometimes his messy handwriting and desperate attempts to make jokes in class are distracting at times. But overall you can learn a lot from him.
Had him as a tutor. Absolutely brilliant, knew the texts back to front. Far more superior to any other english teacher I've had!
I Left Scotch 4 years ago, its good to hear that you all still think he is a top teacher. He was probably the best teacher i had at Scotch. Fantastic english teacher and fantastic person!
Knows everything about the texts that he teaches. Funny bloke too, thanks baz
Not only a fantastic teacher, but a fantastic person. He is passionate about literature and recommended some great books to me. Thanks!
just finished year 12 and was lucky enought to have him twice in by tenure an absolutely great teacher, exactly the kind of person you need in your final years; extremely knowledgable, dedicated, insightful and ready to give extra help. yet also witty, funny, warm and jovial. also never yelled or got unnecesarily angr. possibly the best teacher i've had all my life. simply every class of literature/english was a pleasure. I salute you Mr Burton
Another top bloke at Scotch, someone give him a medal. One of the best English teachers and is always nice to students, very witty and jovial man. Revision lecture for Quiet American was fantastic. Great sense of humour he has.
Great year, committed and dedicated teacher who knows his stuff especially Hamlet + TQA. But was late, daily. But you still learn stuff in the 20mins of so left of class time :D
A committed and dedicated teacher who has an amazing knowledge of Hamlet and depth in his analysis. His classes are interesting and full of puns - a truly admirable man. Thanks Barrie.
A Hamlet/TQA expert. A truly great teacher and awesome mentor. By Sandy B
an english genius - deserves much admiration and respect
love the man. very comical. love the antics. great time spent out on the tennis court. cheers bazza
Great teacher and great bloke absolutley love his antics.
tends to rock up to class late but is a good teacher when he finally gets there and we get inside the classroom and settle down enough to listen (about 10 or so minutes of actual teach time per class)
Honest teacher who can always give feedback. Class is always full of puns, payouts and him coming and going, but his material knowledge is amazing.
Good Bloke, always late, but his classes are interesting, full of puns :P Knows his Hamlet/TQA back to front. Will Always make at least one GATTACA insult each class.
